It was well past mid-day before I came to, confronted by the worried face of Lord Sonst. I told him I had never felt better so weakly I’m not sure he heard me. He said that his doctor was going to visit again later but he was too worried to wait, he was going to try and find someone to help. I tried to catch his hand as he turned to leave but I couldn’t lift my arm. He noticed though and stopped. I asked him if I was still beautiful. He smiled and said “My lady I have no words to describe beauty such as yours, language fails utterly to capture your radiance”. Bless him for a liar.
The next time I was awake and aware a woman with dark curly tresses in a purple robe was standing over me asking how I felt. I told her that my grandmother had always told me that only whores wear purple. She was so offended she didn’t notice I had lifted her amethyst ring as she left. Lord Sonst had found a priestess of Adariel, the Lady of Life, Blessed Mercy, Mother of All to tend to me. Free of charge no less.
For the first time in days I threw my legs over the lip of the hammock and stood on my own feet. The storeroom was a mess, who knew I had so many fluids in my body? Lord Sonst seemed alarmed but I assured him I was fine, probably my most egregious lie in a lifetime of flagrant falsehoods. No rest for the weary, I told him we need to talk business. I took him to the 100 Waves, where he was completely scandalized when I disrobed in front of him, or at least he pretended to be – he did follow me into a bathhouse after all.
As I scrubbed away the filth of several days near death I told him that I needed to meet these merchants before I could consider recommending to my mysterious Otoutesv lady that she invest in his scheme. He was only too happy to set up a meeting later. Once he had scurried off I gave the owner of the general store a few gold for his trouble and headed out into the “fresh” air of Graltontown.
I found myself a new place to stay at a fine inn called the Hound’s Tooth, owned by a hafling that raises riding dogs. We chatted for a spell and he showed me some of his stock – fine creatures indeed. I spent some time with my disguise kit putting on my theater persona to visit Rince Electrum and make sure things were proceeding there, taking extra care to disguise the signs of my illness.
Unfortunately Rince is either more honest or not as much of a fool as I thought because when I paid him a visit very shortly some of his watch buddies turned up to take me into custody. I threw a potful of hot tea in his wife’s face and in the chaos made a dash for it out the window. They were hot on my heels until I scattered some coins in the street and caused a small riot, allowing me to slip away. So much for that scheme.
Silver lining though, I capped off the day with a very nice dinner at Varson’s with Sonst and three merchants. I generally don’t care for money-grubbing types, so undignified, but they seemed to know their business.
I fell into bed, bone-tired and still feeling only three steps from the grave.

Behind the curtain – Ela made her save today to avoid any further ability damage but needs to save tomorrow to be cured of the filth fever, she has another +4 from a Heal check . A Lesser Restoration spell removed 2 points of Constitution damage as well.
I got the Crackdown event, Ela failed her stealth check, made sense to tie that into the Rince/Ringle plot.
I’m tired of tracking Ela’s living expenses day to day so I used the cost of living from the Game Mastery Guide – although I paid 50 since she’s neither really average nor wealthy.
