I met up with Sonst, who clearly had been roughed up a bit, and the merchants to organize the final touches so the caravan before heading out tomorrow. It’s amazing how much goes into even such a relatively small enterprise. In a way you really have to admire people who work for a living. I suppose if you can’t be rich it’s the way to go.
I took some time to reflect on my time in Graltontown so far. I’m still alive, which is a victory in and of itself, but so far what have I accomplished? Am I any closer to my revenge on Duke Eaglevane? But as my grandmother always said it takes more than one stone to kill the blasphemer, it will take time to build up my resources to where I can strike back. Still so far it seems like I’ve been treading water.
With little else to do I spent part of the day training with my new dogs and discussing details of the trip with my bodyguards – Belskar, the tough looking one, and Thel , the not so tough looking one. After that I walked around the town for a few hours. What a truly wretched place this is.
Tomorrow we head for Three Rivers.

Behind the curtain – I’ve always thought that caravan rules from the Jade Regent adventure path were interesting but I’ve never been able to work them into a campaign. Seems like in the early days of Paizo had had a mini-game like that attached to each AP. It seems like a terrible way to make money in the short term but I wanted to give it a try. Ela could act as an Entertainer (or a Driver or a Guard amusingly) but doesn’t seem like she would generally so I haven’t included those stats.
