I spent all night playing cat and mouse with Korrok cultists – by which I mean mostly shooting them in the back in the dark. I’ve never really thought of myself as a killer – I’m not sure I can think that anymore. After Serensa fled the field they didn’t seem to know what to do other than try to kill me, on account of Oona and Jeyne and Arastra already being dead. Once it got light enough I dragged the three holy warriors’ bodies into the cavern and stacked some rocks over the entrance – a bit sentimental on my part since they were great fools. Brave great fools though. I’m sure they would have liked for me to say some words over them but I didn’t loot them – that’s really the best I can do. They didn’t have anything good anyway.
Everyone else I looted like crazy. Serensa had left behind a spear that seemed quite potent. Should fetch a pretty copper – assuming I ever get back to civilization. After that I dragged all the corpses of the townfolk and the cultists into a heap and tried to burn them. Turns out starting a fire is harder than it looks. Eventually I had to traipse to Peacock Orchid and find some oil and a tindertwig to get things going. I’ve never been so exhausted in all my life.
I fell into a bed in Peacock Orchid and slept like the dead. By the time I woke up the sun was setting again. I was famished and thankfully the slaughter at Peacock Orchid must have only been a few days ago because there was still plenty of food to be had. I suppose the smart move would be to stay here and wait for someone to show up. But that could be months, it’s not like this place is anywhere anyone wants to go. Plus I feel like this is pretty close to the Vieland front. The ‘someone’ who shows up could be a contingent of enemy soldiers. Which wouldn’t be great.
Nevertheless I am still sorely tempted to stay here – taking off alone into the wilderness is about the last thing I want to do. If there was a road to follow or something that would be different but the idea of striking off overland with no guide by myself fills me with trepidation. I don’t have a lot of choices though. As per usual. Someday I’m going to catch a break. I wonder if I’ll even know what to do when it happens.
Tomorrow I’ll gather up whatever food and water I can and head north. I should come to Hillside or Redpeace or Malgareth, if nothing else eventually I’ll hit the river. It can’t be that hard to head north right?

Behind the curtain – Ela hit level 8 and took her first level of Master Spy. That’s what I’ve been building to but I realizing now that just taking more levels of rogue is probably better. Oh well, maybe a couple levels of Master Spy and then back to rogue. Assuming she lives. I’ve never looked at the rules for navigation and starvation much because that’s not fun in a real game but I have a feeling a lot of untrained Survival checks aren’t going to get you very far.
